My PD Sessions

These are the PD sessions that I offer. If you would like to have me come in or “Skype” in and present a session please don’t hesitate to let me know!

Computer Knowledge-

PC Basics- Attendees learn the basics of PC hardware and software. They will also become familiar with the essential functions of the Windows environment, including minimizing, maximizing, opening, closing and restoring windows. This course discusses the Firelands Network, and details the various drives available and their purposes. Creating a folder on the network / flash drives and saving documents to that folder are also covered.

Mac Basics- Attendees learn the basics of the Mac Operating system and how you can integrate them into your classroom. This course will give a brief overview of the built in programs in the operating system as well as i-Life and i-Work.

PC Troubleshooting I- Attendees learn the basics of troubleshooting computer issues. This course will help you become a stronger PC user and help you to understand how things work. This course is an overview of technical problem solving.

PC Troubleshooting II- Attendees learn advanced skills for troubleshooting computer issues. This course will focus more on networking issues and network theory to help you understand how our network and the Internet work.

Laptop Basics- Attendees learn the basics of laptop computing. This course outlines how to connect to wireless networks as well as giving an overview to the functions of a notebook computer.

SMART Technologies-

SMART Board I- Attendees learn the basics of the smart notebook software and how to integrate the technology into your existing curriculum and lessons. The course will teach you basic troubleshooting of your Smartboard. You will learn how to import your current Power Points and how to utilize Smart Tools to take your lessons to the next level.

SMART Extras- Attendees learn how to successfully integrate SMART tools (Airliners, Clickers, Document Cameras) into lesson plans as well as importing and exporting of student data from SMART Notebook and into Progress Book.

Get Social-

Internet Safety- Attendees learn the importance of copyright and filtering and how they are affected. This course is required to attain the filtering software on campus.

Intro to Social Networks- Attendees learn the importance of social networks and how they can be utilized within the classroom. This course outlines Twitter, Facebook, Wiki’s, Ning, Delicious, and tying everything together and building a PLN (Personal Learning Network)

Professionally Social- Attendees learn netiquette as well as how to use social networks in a positive way to promote you and what you are doing in the classroom. This course will also give you a jump start in creating an online portfolio that you can take with you when you leave.

Stopping Cyber Bullying- Attendees learn what cyber bullying is and how to combat it in the classroom. This course will outline subjects such as netiquette, bullying, sexting, etc.

Google Products-

Gmail I- Attendees learn the basic’s of gmail and how to use it day to day. We will overview labels, filters as well as sending and receiving email.

Gmail Ninja- Learn tips and tricks of Gmail and learn about the more advanced features like Google Video chat, Google Labs as well as other advanced features.

Google Docs I- Attendees learn what Google Docs are and how to utilize the cloud to gain access to their information while away form the campus. This course also provides an overview of the collaboration piece of Google Docs and how you can utilize them in your daily life.

Google Sites I- Attendees learn how to create their own website and easily share content with students when they need it most. This will provide instructors a place on the web to share content / important dates/ and also a place to showcase student work.

Google Forms I- Attendees learn how to easily create forms in order to gain feedback from students as well as the public. This course outlines the creation and modification of forms as well as collaborating on the data. This course will also instruct you on url shortening as well as embedding your forms on your Google Site or the District Website.

Internet Skills-

Exploring the Internet- Attendees learn what resources are available on the Internet and how to find them. What should you be searching for? Why reinvent the wheel? This course will help you find relevant resources to bring to your classroom.

1 Hr. 21st Century Skills-

Digital Native as a 2nd Language- Attendees learn how to communicate with digital natives and how to successfully integrate 21st century education into lessons. This class will expose you to resources that will further your knowledge of 21st century skills and digital natives.

Digital Story Telling- Digital Storytelling is the practice of using computer-based tools to tell stories. As with traditional storytelling, most digital stories focus on a specific topic and contain a particular point of view. However, as the name implies, digital stories usually contain some mixture of computer-based images, text, recorded audio narration, video clips and/or music. Attendees will learn how to easily incorporate digital story telling into their classroom.

Pod/Video/Screen Casting- Attendees learn how to create content to share with others. This course focuses on recording audio and video to share a lesson with a peer or to record a book and assign chapters to your class. Both windows and mac software will be overviewed.

Blogs and Wiki’s- Start your own blog today! We will learn what blogging is and how to implement it in your classroom. Learn the importance of wiki’s and provide your students with information whenever they need it and wherever they are.

Connecting 2 classrooms- In this session you will learn how to connect with other classrooms via social networks, skype, and other video platforms. We will provide you with integration ideas to bring these technologies into the classroom.

Schoology- Students need us the most when we are off the clock. Why not provide them a place where they can discuss topics in class, get the materials from the day’s lessons or even take a quiz from home. “Schoology” brings your classroom onto the Internet with a social network (Facebook) feel.

Misc.-

Progressbook Refresher- This course is designed to be an open Question and Answer session for anyone needing help with ProgressBook. Sit down one on one to answer the questions you may have.

Mobile Devices in the classroom- In this course we will give an overview of devices such as the iPad and iPod touch. We will also demonstrate uses in the classroom as well as integration ideas tailored to your grade level.

Use the internet as your 2nd brain- In this course I will go through workflows and tools that I use to stay on top of the education and tech world. We will overview ways to deal with information overload so you can stay afloat on the information super highway.
