Export filenames on your images in Lightroom

download

This past weekend I was fortunate to speak at our summer conference Summer Snap” on the topic of Lightroom. One question that came up was “Is it possible to export your images with the filename on the image?” Today we present a work around to do exactly that!

To get started from the Library module choose “Slideshow”

You will have a popup dialog come up, simply choose Filename as seen below

You will now see the filename show up on your image as seen here

I also created a video that you can see the process step by step here:

As always if you have any questions or need help with anything Lightroom let me know!

Thanks for the video. My filenames look like Lucy_A12348765 (2 of 5).

I would like to have “Lucy A12348765” placed on all five of the Lucy pictures.

I’m pretty sure I could do this with ImageMagick but I’d prefer Lightroom.

    Thanks,

    Bert

Hey Bert, sorry this comment was in Spam, were you able to figure it out?

        Hello Tj:

Thanks for replying! I am using a workaround. I put the text that I want on the photo in the metadata with Lightroom and then I tell the plug-in to use the metadata field for text that goes on the photo.

Bad news: It is an extra step. Good news: It works well and allows more function.

I would still like to be able to start at the left side of the file name and take the text before the first space and use that string for what goes on the picture. I’m not sure where to start.

        Thanks.
