Google appointment slots for parent teacher conferences

Earlier this year Google announced the addition of appointment slots in Google calendar. Appointment slots allow you as an educator or an administrator to have people signup for appointments with you (ie Parent Teacher Conferences) right inside your own Google calendar. 

*Note: This works in Gmail as well as Google Apps for Admin.

To get started, login to your Google Calendar

When you navigate to your calendar, click where you want to start your availability.

(For our example we will use 5:30-8:00 for our conferences and each conference will be 20 minutes)

When you click on your calendar you will see an option for appointment slots. Click on “Appointment Slots”

When the next screen is displayed click “Edit details”

The next screen is the options screen where you setup the appointment. Here you can set the title of the event, the times that you are available, the duration of the appointment.
In the center of the screen you will see a link to the appointment page. Copy this link to a text document so you have it for your records.

After you have copied the URL click save at the top of the page.

When you click on this link you will see the signup page:

Now send out this link to your parents or post on your site for users to signup for appointments.

Setting up your calendar in this way will give you a list of parents that will be meeting with you. Also when someone creates an appointment and they are using Google calendar it will add the event to their calendar.
